Palace Grounds Bengaluru: Stalls for Consumer and Property Expos

Planning a stall for a Palace Grounds expo in Bengaluru: hangars vs open ground, uneven floors, rain and dust, and layouts for consumer and property shows.

Palace Grounds is one of Bengaluru's busiest spaces for consumer fairs, property expos and lifestyle shows, but it is not a permanent exhibition centre. Most shows there are held in temporary hangars or on open ground, so your stall has to handle things a convention hall usually takes care of: floors that are not level, heat, dust, wind and rain.

Every one of these can be planned for. Here is how we approach stalls for Palace Grounds shows, and what to check with the organiser before you commit to a design.

Hangar or open ground: find out first

The first question is where your space actually is. Each organiser sets up the grounds differently, so the answer can change from show to show and even from one end of the layout to the other.

Inside a hangar

Hangars are temporary structures put up for the show. Ask for the internal height at your plot, because it can vary across the span. Ask about the flooring the organiser lays, how power reaches your space, and whether anything can be hung from the structure. Often it cannot, so plan a stall that stands entirely on its own.

On open ground

Open-air plots give you height and visibility, but you are building on soil, grass or paving that may not be level. You will need a raised platform, proper anchoring or ballast against wind, and a plan for rain and for the sun moving across the stall through the day.

  • Exact position of your plot on the layout, and whether it is covered.
  • Ground or floor type at your plot, and whether the organiser lays a base.
  • Permitted structure height and any restrictions near walkways or the hangar edge.
  • Power: how it is supplied, the load you can draw and what backup exists.
  • Build-up and dismantle timings, and vehicle access onto the grounds.
  • Rules on outdoor signage, flags and anything that could move in the wind.

Build for the ground you are on

A level floor is the base of every good stall, and at Palace Grounds we never assume one. A timber platform, levelled on site with packers, gives a flat, clean surface, hides the cabling and lifts the stall above water if it rains.

  • Use a raised platform with a ramp or low step at the entry, and finished edges so nobody trips.
  • Anchor or ballast tall elements. Fascias, logo pillars and freestanding panels catch wind, even inside an open-sided hangar.
  • Choose finishes that tolerate dust and humidity. Laminates and painted surfaces with a good top coat wipe clean; raw fabric marks easily.
  • Protect electricals: weatherproof connections, with cable routes inside the platform, never across open ground.
  • Carry tarpaulins and covers for products and furniture overnight.

All of this is worked out at the factory before the stall leaves. We dry-assemble every stall in our workshop, so the platform, frames and anchoring are proven before they reach the grounds.

Designing for consumer shows

Consumer visitors at Palace Grounds often come with family and friends, and many come on weekends. They decide in seconds whether to step in, so the stall has to be open, bright and easy to enter.

  • Keep the frontage open, with products at hand height.
  • Put one clear offer or message on the fascia, readable from a distance.
  • Place the billing or order counter so queues do not block the entry.
  • Leave space for prams and groups to stop without blocking the aisle.
  • Light the stall well for the evening, when hangars can feel dim.

Designing for property expos

Property buyers behave differently. They come to compare projects, they bring the family, and they want privacy for the serious conversation. A good property stall works in three zones.

  1. A front zone with the project name, location and a large render or model that pulls people in from the aisle.
  2. A middle zone with the model table and a screen running walkthroughs, where sales staff open the conversation.
  3. A back zone with seated sales desks, partly screened, where families can go through floor plans and payment plans in private.

Scale models are fragile and valuable. Give them a stable, covered plinth, keep them out of direct sun on outdoor plots, and agree who moves them in and out. Check the organiser's overnight security arrangements before you leave models on the stall.

Lead time and reuse

Palace Grounds is in our home city, so we ask for a brief 3–4 weeks ahead, the same as other Karnataka shows. Hangar and open-ground builds need a site visit or clear photos and layout drawings from the organiser, so allow a few days for that inside the timeline.

If you do several consumer or property shows a year, a modular stall that can be stored and reused works well. The platform, frames and counters stay the same; the graphics change with the season or the project.

Dismantling on open ground needs its own plan. If it rains on the last evening, wet panels and carpet must be packed so they do not damage the rest of the load, and the plot must be left clear of fixings, ballast and waste. Check the organiser's rules on clearing the ground and how the deposit is returned, and keep a few dry covers on the truck for the return trip.
