India Essen Welding & Cutting 2026: Stalls for Safe Live Demos

Designing a stall for India Essen Welding & Cutting 2026 with live demos: screened demo bays, fume control, camera feeds, crowd lines and what to confirm.

India Essen Welding & Cutting 2026 runs from 30 Nov–2 Dec 2026 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. For welding and cutting brands, a live demo is the strongest thing you can put on a stall. It is also the hardest to get right, because the same arc that draws a crowd can hurt eyes, the fumes have to go somewhere, and sparks and hot metal do not mix with visitors in an aisle.

The answer is to design the demo bay first and the rest of the stall around it. Separate the demo from the public, screen the arc, manage fumes, and then give the crowd a better view than they would get by standing close: a camera feed on a large screen. Start with the India Essen Welding & Cutting 2026 show page for dates and planning notes.

Confirm what the organiser allows first

Live welding and cutting inside a hall usually needs permission, and the conditions are set by the organiser and the venue. Do not design anything until you have read the relevant section of the exhibitor manual and, if needed, written to the organiser. These are the questions that shape the whole stall:

  1. Is live welding or cutting permitted on your stall, and does it need a separate approval or form?
  2. Are gas cylinders allowed inside the hall, how many, and how must they be stored and secured?
  3. What screening, fire safety equipment and extraction does the organiser require around a demo?
  4. What power supply type and load can be ordered, and what is the deadline?
  5. Are there limits on demo timings, noise or the size of the demo area?

Keep the answers in writing and share them with your stall builder. The design drawings submitted for approval should show the demo bay, screens, extraction and fire equipment clearly.

Designing the demo bay

Separation and screening

The demo bay should sit inside the stall, set back from the aisle, with a physical barrier between the operator and visitors. Welding screens or curtains rated for the purpose block direct arc light. Where you want visitors to watch directly, use viewing panels with a suitable welding filter rather than clear acrylic.

Build the bay walls and floor from non-combustible or fire-retardant materials, and keep graphics, fabric and carpet well clear of the work area. A metal or fire-resistant floor plate under the welding table catches spatter and protects the platform.

Fumes and extraction

Fume extraction units are often products in their own right at this show, which makes them a good thing to put on display. Position the extraction arm or hood close to the work and route ducting so it does not cross walkways. Plan its power alongside the welding machines when you place the power order.

Let the crowd see more by standing further away

The best way to keep visitors safe and still impressed is to give them a better view at a distance. A camera fitted with a suitable filter, pointed at the weld pool and fed to a large screen facing the aisle, shows the bead forming in detail that nobody could see with the naked eye from behind a screen.

  • Place the screen where a crowd can gather without blocking the aisle or neighbouring stalls.
  • Add a simple floor line or low rail that marks where visitors stand.
  • Run demos to a fixed schedule and show the next demo time on a board, so people come back.
  • Keep a finished sample from each demo on a nearby table, where visitors can inspect the weld or cut edge.
  • Have a second team member outside the bay to talk to the crowd while the operator works.

The rest of the stall

Around the demo bay, the stall needs a product display for machines, torches and consumables, a counter for quick questions, and a meeting area for buyers who want to talk about volumes and service. Keep the meeting area on the far side from the demo, so noise and light do not interrupt conversations.

Storage matters more than usual: consumables, spare wire, gas fittings, PPE for operators, test plates and cleaning materials all need a lockable place. Give the operator a small, clear path from storage to the bay so nothing is carried through visitors.

Protecting the operator and your team

The demonstrator works in front of a crowd for hours across three days. Plan a short rest break between demos, a place to keep PPE clean, and good ventilation inside the bay. Brief every stall staff member on where the fire extinguisher sits, how to stop a demo quickly and who is responsible for checking the bay at the end of each day. Small habits like these keep a demo stall running calmly.

This show shares its dates and venue with METEC India 2026, so foundry and metallurgy visitors may pass through too. A clear header that says what you weld or cut, and for which industries, helps the right visitors stop.

Timeline from our Bengaluru factory

For a Mumbai show, we ask for the brief 6–8 weeks ahead. Demo stalls need the full window, because organiser permissions, screen specifications and extraction layouts must be settled before fabrication starts. We dry-assemble the stall, including the demo bay, in our Bengaluru factory before it ships, then truck it to Mumbai and install it with our own crew.

The Bombay Exhibition Centre venue guide covers venue planning notes, and our page on stalls in Mumbai explains how we work in the city.
