Exhibiting in Kochi and Kerala: A Stall Planning Guide
Planning a stall in Kochi or elsewhere in Kerala: venues, monsoon and humidity planning, transport from Bengaluru, local audiences and what to confirm first.

Exhibiting in Kerala is mostly about Kochi. The city is the state's commercial centre and hosts most of its larger trade shows, while Thiruvananthapuram and other cities run smaller expos and conferences. Shows here cover tourism and hospitality, food and spices, marine products, construction and interiors, healthcare, education and consumer goods.
The main thing that sets Kerala apart for a stall builder is the climate. Long monsoon seasons and high humidity affect materials, transport and any outdoor build. Plan for them from the start. We build Kerala stalls at our Bengaluru factory and ask for a brief 4 to 6 weeks before the show.
Venues in Kochi and around
The Adlux convention centre near Angamaly is one of the main venues for exhibitions and large events in the Kochi area, and it sits conveniently close to the airport. Other shows run in hotel convention spaces, temporary hangars and open grounds across the city.
Because Kerala venues vary so much, from permanent halls to temporary structures, do not assume anything about ceiling heights, power or flooring. Ask the organiser for the exhibitor manual and check these points.
- Whether your stall is in a permanent hall, a temporary hangar or an open area.
- The build height allowed and any rules about overhead elements.
- Power: load available, deadlines and whether backup supply is provided.
- Flooring: whether the organiser lays carpet or a base, or whether you need a raised platform.
- Build-up and dismantling timings and vehicle access to the hall.
- Any material rules, such as fire retardant fabrics or treated timber.
Planning for monsoon and humidity
Kerala's monsoon is long, and even outside it, humidity is high. These conditions matter more for stalls than most exhibitors expect.
- Raised platforms help where floors may be uneven or damp, especially in temporary structures.
- Sealed and laminated finishes hold up better than raw MDF in humid air.
- Fabric graphics should be properly tensioned and checked on site, as humidity can cause sagging.
- Pack electricals, screens and printed graphics in moisture-resistant wrapping for the road.
- For any outdoor element, use weatherproof prints and fixings rated for wind and rain.
If your show is in a temporary hangar, ask whether the structure has side walls and how rain runoff is managed. Water at the edges of a hangar is a common problem, and it is better to plan the stall position and base height around it than to deal with it on the day.
Getting the stall to Kerala
The road from Bengaluru to Kochi crosses the Western Ghats, and during heavy rain, ghat sections can slow traffic or cause delays. We plan transport with that in mind, especially in the monsoon months.
- Brief us 4 to 6 weeks ahead, and towards 6 weeks during the monsoon.
- Plan to dispatch the stall early enough to absorb a delay of a day.
- Confirm truck entry times and the unloading area with the organiser.
- If you are sending products separately, have them reach the venue after the stall structure is up.
Designing for Kerala audiences
Kerala visitors are often well informed and direct. Many shows mix trade buyers with families and walk-in visitors, so stalls need to work for both.
- Signage in English with Malayalam where your audience includes end customers or local dealers.
- A welcoming open front with a counter where questions can be answered quickly.
- Enough product on display to start conversations, with stock or samples stored out of sight.
- A small seating area for dealers or buyers who want a longer discussion.
- Bright, even lighting, since some temporary venues are dimmer than permanent halls.
Beyond Kochi
Thiruvananthapuram hosts government-linked expos, technology events and conferences, often in hotels or convention venues. Smaller cities run regional trade fairs and consumer expos. The planning approach is the same: confirm venue details, plan for weather and allow time for the longer drive. Our Thiruvananthapuram location page covers what we offer there.
If you are running a dealer meet or conference in Kerala alongside a show, our Kochi corporate events team handles hotel events too. More on stalls is on our Kochi exhibition stalls page, and the Kochi location page lists the areas we cover.
Choosing materials for a Kerala show
Material choice matters more in Kerala than in drier cities. A stall that looks fine in a Bengaluru hall can show swelling edges, peeling vinyl or loose fabric after a few days in damp air. We plan materials with the climate in mind and finish every edge before the stall leaves the factory.
- Laminated or properly painted and sealed boards rather than raw or lightly finished panels.
- Edge banding on every exposed edge to stop moisture getting into the core.
- Aluminium or treated framing where the stall is in a temporary or partly open structure.
- Printed graphics on materials that tolerate humidity, fixed with methods that hold in damp air.
- Lighting and electricals with proper enclosures where there is any chance of water.
These choices can add some cost, but they protect the stall for the full show and make it easier to reuse afterwards. If you plan to exhibit in Kerala every year, building for reuse with storage at our factory between shows is often the better approach over the long run.
